Left Sided Blinkers Stay On When Lights Turned On
I have a problem where my left sided blinkers stay on when I turn on my lights. I don't have a problem using the signals when my lights are off. I changed the light bulbs and still have the same problem. I then took off the flasher and turned on my lights and the left sided blinkers still came on. So I know it's not the flasher. I checked the wiring and nothing seemes out of place. One of my friends told me it could be the controller that is on the steering column, anyone think they know what could be? I don't know if the steering column thing is complicated to fix or take a look at. Any help would be appreciated.

Re: Left Sided Blinkers Stay On When Lights Turned On
I would say it is either a wire that is shorted out and somehow connected to the other lights, but I don't think this otherwise there would probably be a problem with the turning singal any other time you use it. It is possible that the controller, which I think you usually just have to buy a new one and replace it, not sure in price.
It would be avidesed to post the type of car here and year just so there is more inforamtion we have about it. Also I would check if anyone did any work on the wiring, they may have messed it up somehow. |

Re: Left Sided Blinkers Stay On When Lights Turned On
Hi all
Sounds like you have a bad ground somewhere and the lights are grounding thru that bulb. This can be a bear to find but is very possible. If any of the other lights are dimmer then normal (look carefully) it would be a clue where to look. Good luck Cardoc |

Re: Left Sided Blinkers Stay On When Lights Turned On
My car is a 95 honda civic dx. I will try and look at the wiring to see if something is not grounded where it should be. I noticed inside the hood it is grounded correctly on the right hand side, is there anywhere else I should look?

Re: Left Sided Blinkers Stay On When Lights Turned On
Look for "clean grounds" and corroded sockets. You might even want to make a temporary ground for testing with a jumper wire.Do you have a test light or volt meter?Do all the lights on that sde stay on or only 1?

Re: Left Sided Blinkers Stay On When Lights Turned On
Good Afternoon Gentlemen, actually this problem could be caused by a wrong type globe being plugged in.
I would suspect if this were the case that you may find a single contact globe plugged into a double contact socket like the rear stop / park lamp socket. Cheers, qldit. |

Re: Left Sided Blinkers Stay On When Lights Turned On
I will look at my wires and bulbs to see that they are correct. I have a feeling some wire is touching or not touching where it's supposed to. All this happened after my car got hit in the front and I had to take it to the shop to replace the hood, bumper, radiator, and pretty much the front part. All was working fine til I took it in to get it fixed after it got hit by another car.

Re: Left Sided Blinkers Stay On When Lights Turned On
Good Afternoon wcalifas, that is interesting, that being the case I would closely inspect the disconnect plugs for the front lamp assemblies aft of the front lamp units.
Check for proper location, separation and stretched wiring that may be shorting. Also inspect the wiring harness for crush damage in those areas. I would have thought the repairer should have fixed this for you actually. Cheers, qldit. |

If you got it repaired not that long ago and it start to happen just afer getting it back from them, and it is not someting simple you say, try and talk to the place and see if they will look at it for free since it is possibly a result of thier work.

Re: Left Sided Blinkers Stay On When Lights Turned On
Goodevening all
It's been a long time since I've seen the wrong bulb (globe on that side of the big pond as qldit states) put in.But it would definately cause this problem by shorting the two circuits. Very good point. Also Snoopdogie187 has a very good point.Sounds like the body shop would be responsible for this situation. They should be able to rectify it.Start with a gentile sugestion and go from their.Have been in this situation myself it's rather a simple problem for a pro to solve.Logical trouble shooting will always prevail. Good luck Cardoc |
