Re: questiion on 98 Jeep cherokee
Hello Sam and Welcome to the forum!
The fill point on the rear axle is in the assembly or "pumpkin" as we call it. It should be an adapter that takes a 3/8 ratchet(usually above the rear axle coming into it) if I'm not mistaken. So all you do is use a 3/8 ratchet with a couple inch extension on it then remove the "cap" and what I usually do is stick a wire tie in the hole with a bend in it to see where the fluid level is at. If it is close to the top then good also if the fluid is any good? Not sure how to check the fluid? anyways hope this helped you, if so let us know

Re: questiion on 98 Jeep cherokee
some models use a rubber plug instead of a metal plug . remove all the dirt if any around the rubber plug and take a pair of channel locks and wiggle as you pull out on the
plug and it should just pop out. if the fluid is at or just below the hole it is considered full. if you want to change the fluid you have to pump it out of the fill hole. |
