Red Faced HELP! with my 2000 Toyota GTS

Help someone ! My 2000 toyota Celica GTS has 84,000 miles and last week
I was driving and it felt like I had a ton of weight in the rearend then I started to hear a grinding noise with a poping noise. I took it to a shop and they said it was the trans. but I don't have the money to fix it so my friend will in TN. (I'm in MO.) But I will pay for the parts to fix .SOOO... Has anyone had this happen and know what parts I will need to get. I love my car so please help. Thanks to anyone that can help!!!

Good Morning Heather Yevtte, you won't know what is required untile the machine is stripped down.
We call then "silly cars" here by the way! LOL!!

Have you considered just getting another tranny from an auto-wreckers, it may be less expensive?

Thanks for the response, Yes I checked in to that but not many GTS that year in the junk yards : ( only 500 were sent to Mo., I think I'm just have to give her up as is or Part her out. I'm so sad but, that just means I have to go get a new toy : )

If anyone in Mo. is looking for a fast and furious look alike 2000 Toyota Celica GTS it has 84,000 miles on it, 15 miles on brand new fuze run flat tires ($325.00 per tire) on it that are on 19 in. cust rims. Let me know!!!

Good Morning Heather Yevtte, it may be worth your getting another opinion on that problem, your problem description doesn't necessarily describe a transmission failure so much as a rear end problem like a collapsed wheel bearing. (kind of thing)
