I had a 91 Sentra Classic, the gas and temp gauges both die after 1 min of being operational .. ive pulled dash apart thinking it was grounding out and that was causing it, but no luck.

Re: Gauges are dead .. pls help
the problem is a voltage regulator behind the guages, (gas, temp, etc.) take the cluster out, flip it over, youll see what looks like a little silver square thing with 3 wires(blue, yellow and black........ or got o your local Nissan dealer and ask for a fuel /temp voltage regulator.
peace and love,...matthew dale Dennis Dillon Nissan,Boise |

Re: Gauges are dead .. pls help
Good Afternoon NateR6, yes matthew dale is right on the money with that suspicion, the Fuel and temp gauges normally run on a lower voltage (approximately 7 volts) and that three legged voltage regulator transistor performs this exact function to provide constant reliable stable voltage that allows the gauges to remain steady with different battery voltage conditions.
These are the kinds of things that can be damaged when using "jumper leads" to start vehicles. Cheers, qldit. |
