1. windows wont go up or down, when i first bought it they went up and down very slowly and sometimes stoped. but now wont move at all 2. the speedometer is wayyyy off. ill be going 65 and it says im going 100. its a digital speedometer that displays the speed. 3.the 4x4 doesnt work, or at least we dont know if it works. we put it in 4x4 but cant really feel any difference. its a push button 4x4. |

Re: 92 jimmy 4 door v6 fuel ingetion
Good Morning emosun, I am not familiar with that vehicle but do feel there is a possible safety issue involved.
We had a case where a vehicle was swept away in a flooded creek with a young family inside, the windows were unable to be opened and they perished. Sad story. As you are aware paying tolls or any issue needing the window opened also becomes a real nuisance. But the emergency aspect is most important, doors often can't be opened. In that all the windows are affected it is unlikely all the motors have problems, so it is likely that there is a high resistance electrical connection somewhere in the power circuit to the windows that has eventually become open circuit. Modern spade connections are common and the wire is simply crimped and can develop corrosion in the crimp, or the spade may be poor contact. This kind of thing progresses and usually develops heat which compounds the effect until nothing in that circuit operates. As a starting point (assuming you have checked and replaced all the associated fuses) I would inspect the area of your window switch cluster, especially where the all window close switch is. It is likely the problem will be evident in that area, very likely a discoloured electrical connector with melted insulation or that kind of thing. The windows power is probably obtained from the under-dash fuse panel, so you might try disconecting the battery and gaining access to it, and also inspecting the back of it for any similar effect. Moving from that area to the battery and under bonnet area, carefully check all the fuses in that area and if you have any "fusible links" carefully inspect them also. You could try a fused wire (wire with a 30 amp fuse of similar inline) and powering the windows switches directly from the battery, this would indicate if the windows operate. I would suggest obtaining a service manual from your local auto supermarket and examining the schematic electrical diagrams usually located in the rear section of these manuals. These are usually inexpensive and can save a lot of money simply by the knowledge they contain. The speedometer is likely past it's use-by date, it is most likely the actual indicator in the cab that has the problem, but a minute piece of "swarf" in the transmitter could also do this kind of thing by affecting the count. It is possible that your 4WD selection is associated with your window problem, and if that were so would suggest a problem in the power supply circuit from the back of the underdash fuse holder to the battery. This is a guess, others will have different ideas. Please ensure you fix your windows. Cheers, qldit. |

Re: 92 jimmy 4 door v6 fuel ingetion
Hey emosun!
If the car has many miles on it and it should for as old as it is, you might check in the boot that goes into the divers door. As the wire that powers the main window button can wear out from all the opening and closing going on. Also these buttons as qldit stated get a lot of water from rain when window is opened or snow falling in when you open it. So the button cluster would be a real suspect. There is a tool you can get from the parts store that will shatter a side window in case of an accident, usually it's a two peace tool one side cuts seat belts the other will shatter you side window.Cheap compared to your life's value............. Hope we helped you, if so let us know.
