sticking idle speed adjuster
hi,
i have replaced a sticking idle speed adjuster on my 1991 vauxhall cavalier gli. (british car). But within a week it is sticking again. On inspection it appears to be clogged with a tarry residue stopping it from operating properly. any ideas?

well, that tarry substance is carbon with a mix of oil, and i fear possibly unburnt gas. the most important thing that you could do is make sure that your ignition system is working properly. check your plugs and make sure that the correct heat range plug is put in and that the gap is correct also.
