Oldsmobile with a transmission problem.

My sisters oldsmobile has been sitting in our yard and has not been worked on for quite awhile. It had a popped tire and we had to move it on level ground to get it jacked up and change the tire. Well I believe it was moved without any transmission fluid in it. When we changed the tire we fueled it up and put some transmission fluid in it along with some transmission fix it that stops leaks and stops slurs or something like that. Well after we did that we went around the block a few times and stuff and it seems as if the transmission was sticking or something. It would not go past 35 miles per hour all it was doing was sounding as if it was in neutral. Well after a few more times around the block it finally got past 35 miles per hour and can go a little over 50. So we just parked it and went out there the next morning and tried it. When we start it, it revs high then goes to its normal idle. We took it out for a drive and it seemed to work a little better no sticking and stuff but the transmission smokes as if transmission fluid is bubbling up out of the hole where the stick is and going down on the engine. We can smell transmission fluid burning but we aren't sure if there is still transmission fluid on there from when it was leaking the other time. Also my sister says that she is needing a gasket for the transmission I am not sure if this is causing the transmission fluid to leak somewhere onto the engine or not but it could be. But there was no transmission fluid leaking onto the ground that is for sure nothing else was leaking there either.

The first thing you need to do is recheck the transmission fluid again, after adding it, get in it,start it, shift it from park to reverse, when you feel it go in shift it to drive and then back to park. Do that a couple times and check the fluid again. The fluid probably needs to work around in the transmission, and you may have added enough the first time it was on the full mark, but after working through it was low again.
A question, how much transmission fluid did you have to put in? If you had to put a lot in, then it's possible that the fluid ran out of it, and it just needs to get fluid worked in and around everything again. You said it sat a long time so that is very possible. If the transmission pan is leaking you need to get that fixed, unless you constantly want to be adding oil. If the pan is leaking, it would most likley be dripping on the ground, but possible that it is hitting somewhere on the exhaust pipe and burning off.

Yeah if it had an exhaust pipe anyway. This thing has survived quite a time. Its shifting thing doesn't work as in when you shift it, it does not move the needle to drive or anything else. Also there is something wrong with the vacuum every time we hook it up it dies. But I don't believe anything leaks. The only thing I can think of is that the transmission fluid is bubbling up out of the transmission and going all over the engine. Because we smell transmission fluid burning all the time.
