blown radio fuse??

I was wiring a new CD player into my 93 Ford Taurus.. and stupid me.. i didnt start insulating the wires until after i noticed the ground wire touching the battery or or ignition wire (red or yellow) i cant rmbr which. Anyways.. I realised I blew the fuse. Now..where would I find the fuse box to replace this fuse...and since I don't have any diagrams or fuse schematics..how would I know which fuse is the blown one??

Any help is greatly appreciated.

The fuse box should be under the steering wheel.
The fuses are numbered, and you will need to find out which on it is, by looking in the manual, if you don't have the manual, try googling it, to find the rght fuse.
It might be number 28, ours was, we have a Ford, just an Escort.
I am no expert, but I hope this helps.

Thnx Joe,

I actually did a google search on this prior to posting but most the responses (if any) where to look in the manual.

I am gona go to Canadian Tire after work and see if they will let me look at the manual without having to buy it. If not, I did a search and some local libraries have the repair manuals...So I may grab a copy and photocopy the relevant pages.

Thnx for the quick reply.

Good thing for you, fuses are ridiculously cheap. You'll probably burn more gas getting them than their worth.

A lot of fuse boxes are located on the driver's side, on the end of the dash. Probably have to open the door to see it.

You might also want to look on the back of the actual unit your installing. Most of the time where the wiring harness connects to the CD player there is a fuse on the back of the actual unit. But check the one on the car first.

Oh sorry for the late reply. I actaully fixed it a while back.

I went to the library and was able to find a manual for the car with entire diagrams of the electircal system. The fuse was number 8 in the fuse box and it cost me 3 dollars to get it changed. Candian tire was selling the fuses in packs of 10..but I think if I had gone to an electric store, i could have gotten just one for 25 cents or so.

The new head unit makes such a huge difference. Its as if I installed new speakers, an amp and a sub!

Thnx everyone!
