Trouble shoot motherboard issues

How I wish I would have found Tech Support Forum earlier, I can't believe the quality of the tutorials, especially this one on the motherboard issue, a small child could follow them as they are so well written with explanations on each small detail, I haven't had the chance to take advantage of any of the tutorials as yet but you can bet I'll make a donation when ever I do use one. Again, Congratuations on the finest web site in my opion that's on the web.... Rich
PS, I've already turned on most of my tech buddy's to your site, just hope they also take advantage of your site

Bad link

Nice guide, I have used it many times to help users. Just one thing. The link to testing with a multimeter is bad.

Should be to this thread.

Re: How to troubleshoot motherboard issues

One other thing. The link to the quality control thread does not work for non-staff members and non-registered users trying to view the article because it is in the Daily Planet. I thought I would like to point this out.

It's true this article needs an update on the functional aspect, and so it will be.

Thanks Sakis.

BTW to anyone who is wondering, this has been made into a sticky in the Motherboards, BIOS, and CPU forum.

Re: How to troubleshoot motherboard issues

The link in this paragraph refers to a thread in DSS, which is only accessible to staff. The link needs to be modified.
Quote:
1. Confirm that the computer and the monitor are properly plugged in an outlet or a functioning UPS. (UPS stands for “Uninterrupted Power Supply” and is a device described and explained in step 5 of How to get prepared for the inevitable in Windows XP – Part II.) Confirm that the power switch at the back of your computer (if present) is on (I=ON, O=OFF). Confirm that the voltage selector (if present) is set correctly for your area.
