Revised: Ad-Aware 2008 Installation & User Guide

Okay, guys, here is the first half with the images added. I'm starting on the user guide next. How does it look so far???

How to download and install Ad-Aware 2007 Free

Ad-Aware 2007 Free

Ad-Aware 2007 Free is an anti-spyware program that is available free for downloading from Lavasoft®. It is intended for personal home use only. Extended or commercial versions are also available for purchase from Lavasoft®: Ad-Aware 2007 Plus, Ad-Aware 2007 Pro and Ad-Aware Enterprise 2.0 for networks.

For the purposes of this article, we will deal only with Ad-Aware 2007 Free.

There are currently no plug-ins or additional components available for Ad-Aware 2007 Free. However, as they become available, this guide will be updated accordingly. Technical support is available from the Lavasoft® Support Forums.

Installation Guide for Ad-Aware 2007 Free:

Note: Ad-Aware 2007 typically must update its file definitions prior to each scan. Be sure to set your firewall permissions (link to general how-to?) to allow for Internet access before proceeding.

1. Begin the download process from the Lavasoft® website. You will be redirected to the download.com website (fig.1). Click Download Now:

Fig. 1

2. Click on Save File and save the file to your desktop:

Fig. 2

3. At your desktop, double-click the newly created aaw2007 icon. The Ad-Aware Installation Wizard will open (Fig. 3). Read and follow the instructions. When finished, click NEXT.

Fig. 3

4. Read the License agreement, (Fig. 4). If you agree, select "I accept the license agreement,” then click on NEXT:

Fig. 4

5. Verify that the information is correct or leave blank. (Fig. 5) Select “Anyone who uses this computer” (preferred) or “Only for me” if you only want it installed on your user account. Click on NEXT.

Fig.5

6. Select Standard Installation and click NEXT. (You can modify advanced options later.)

Fig.6

7. Click NEXT to install Ad-Aware 2007 into the default folder.

Fig.7

8. Ad-Aware has been successfully installed! Click FINISH.

Fig 8

9. If a dialog box prompts you for License Information, click on CANCEL as you are installing the free version of Ad-Aware.

Fig.9

The Ad-Aware application will now open to the main status screen, and your installation is complete.

link to general how-to? - sure i'll try and work on that sometime in the next few weeks. Would be useful for other things as well as just this!

Re: Ad-Aware 2007 Installation & User Guide

Oooooh, thanks for all the good info!!! And thanks, TA, I wasn't sure if that was too much to ask for. I just know that sometimes references like that are made in manuals, and some of us go "huh?" (like me )

Re: Ad-Aware 2007 Installation & User Guide

Its looks very good Moki well done.

I have one comment, the title Ad-Aware 2007 Installation & User Guide, shouldnt it just be Ad-Aware 2007 Installation guide? because the article covers installing the program, not using it.

But that might just me reading it wrong

Re: Ad-Aware 2007 Installation & User Guide

A very minor point but I feel thet the article title needs a slight modification...

For a first time reader it may appear that we are writing an article showing how to get Ad-Aware 2007 for free.

Perhaps it should be something like:

How to download and install "Ad-Aware 2007 Free"
