WinXP Problem
I for some reason i tried to upgrade xp home to xp home thinking it may just overwrite bad files if there were any present,however this didn't happen and the computer now won't boot past the installation setup process.I have the xp home disc with service pck2 but it asks for a file from installation disc 1 (Aliide.sys) I don't have this disc as the software was loaded by the vendor.Is there any way i can get to a point to format the drive and start again.

if you wish to check the system files,in the run box you type
sfc /scannow and press enter if any need repairing it will ask for the disk to do a repair install,you boot from the xp cd and choose install and continue installing until windows finds the previous installation,then it will offer to do the repair this will clear the drive so you can do a fresh install http://dban.sourceforge.net/
