Windows 2000 issue(?) after install'n of high speed internet
Somebody please help. I installed high speed internet two days ago to find yesterday and today that none of my icons on the desktop show. The task bar on the bottom of the screen appears for a few seconds and disappears. I have run adaware, spybot, norton, registry mechanic. There were no viruses or serious issues with adaware or registry mechanic. The only way I can programs up and running is ctrl, alt, del then start a new task. This works with mozilla explorer, word, access, excel. But the microsoft intrernet explorer will not start up.
How do I get the icons back, task bar back. Has anyone experienced this before? Helllllllp!! Look forward to hearing from someone soon. |

Was there something you had to do to the computer when you installed high speed internet?
Lets see if we can get the taskbar back, start a new task regedit then click through the left pane tree... HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer then look down Explorer's sub list and delete any keys (folders) starting with the word StuckRects To check the Desktop just back up a bit to CurrentVersion folder then go down to Policies and then Explorer... HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer check in the right pane for NoDesktop it should be all zeros. If not then right click it and select modify, then change to zero. If there isn't a 'NoDesktop' value then add one by right clicking Explorer / New / DWORD Value and type NoDesktop
