Win7 Questions not really support
I have some windows 7 questions.
1. Do you install it like every other windows OS? Through formatting and using a disk? Or is there a special way you install it. 2. When you install programs in Win7 what do you choose? Like if it only has WinXP and WinVista as download options. |

Hi - Installing Windows 7 is just like installing Vista. You need a bootable Windows 7 ISO DVD and a product key code. I would recommend installing it onto a completely formatted hard drive and not on top of Vista as Vista may see it as an upgrade. When returning to Vista from Windows 7, you will definitely need to format the hard drive. Use a product like killdisk - burn a bootable CD. I use ImgBurn for CD & DVD burning. killdisk - http://www.killdisk.com/downloadfree.htm ImgBurn - http://www.imgburn.com/index.php?act=download I did encounter situations where drivers that worked perfectly with Vista x86 & x64 would not install because Windows 7 was deemed to be an "invalid OS". By February, NVIDIA, IDT, Realtek, Intel, etc... drivers all installed without incident. There were some like a TV tuner driver that would not install. Device Manager showed the yellow flag; I ignored it and had no problems. You should be able to install any program onto Windows 7 that reinstalled in Vista. Again, there are those that still look at the build number (link NT5.x = XP; NT6.x=Vista; or build 2600 = XP; 6000, 6001 = Vista) and may throw a screen up declaring the Windows 7 OS (initial build 7000) to be invalid. It will tell you. I have encountered very few of these. Generally, Windows 7 and Vista are fully compatible Operating Systems. However, Windows 7 is still a beta (test) version and can be unstable. So always have your data backed up and be prepared at anytime to re-install it. The beta expires on August 1, 2009, at which time you should re-install your previous OS. Re: Win7 Questions not really support
Hey JCgriff You probably dont remember me.
about a year ago with blue screen troubles. Thanks for that again!Anyway I installed Win7 about 3 days ago and I love it. I went from XP to Win7 so it is completely different. The only thing I am not getting in the Win7 is that there are 2 program Files.. Program Files and Program Files(x86) Not sure I think that the regular one is for 64bit programs and the x86 is for 32-bit programs.. Anyway, I am only getting two glitchs or bugs in this OS.. I've gotten this error 3 times so far. My screen will stay as it is but it will have pink or purple rectangles of all sizes all over my screen.(Most of the time in diagonal lines) I can not move my mouse or do anything during this. When it happens again I will post a picture. Also, I dont know if this belongs here or not.... When I was using WinXP and I played Call Of Duty World at war I would get around 240-250+ FPS and now I am getting just around 100 all my settings are on the highest like they were with no AA. I have a 250GTS EVGA Superclocked. Ive tried updating drivers and using "Driver Sweeper" EDIT-- Im also gonn update the build to 7077 tommorow Just if you think its my card overheating...

Re: Win7 Questions not really support
You should by now be running the RC release of Windows 7, which is publically available with free validation keys given by Microsoft that will work fully till sometime in 2010 (March I think).
It's very close to the final release that will come soon and sorts out quite a few bugs in previous versions. The build number is 7100. Program Files is the directory where the programs install in Windows 7 and Vista, just like in XP, yup. Try the new OS build, Nvidia will have better working drivers for it and see how it goes. If things work as expected you'll actually find the game to run faster in Windows 7 than in Windows XP.
