[SOLVED] I think i screwed up my computer......

Ok so here is the deal I recently upgraded my OS to windows 7 Beta Build 7000. While it was doing a disk consistency check my power went out and my laptop battery died before it came back on.... Right in the middle of the Disk check... Now when i load up windows Its gives me the "starting windows" screen then goes to a black screen with my mouse pointer and that's about it..... Any ideas on what i did and how to fix it?

Hi,

Can you tell me what other os you have on your computer. As we don't support windows 7 as it is a beta, there isn't much that I can do about that. I am willing to move this to the appropriate forum so that they can try and help you restore some usefulness to your computer.

Cheers!

Re: I think i screwed up my computer......

Hi,

I don't know about installing Windows through ubuntu. What I do know is that you should be able to format your partition and then install windows on the formatted partition. That is the route that I might take. If you need help with formatting the partition just let me know.

Cheers!

Re: I think i screwed up my computer......

If you could give me a Step by step Process for that I would greatly appreciate it. And is there a way i could do that without loosing all of my files. Like music and videos?

I need a little verification about somethings. Is ubuntu installed on the computer that was having the problem with Windows, or is it installed on a different computer? This will make a difference, because it would mean that you would have to take the hdd out of the windows computer and connect it to the the ubuntu computer. That is the main concern that I have at this time, let me know about it and I will see what I can do for you.

Cheers!

Re: I think i screwed up my computer......

its not installed on any of them I downloaded the .Iso in case i needed to install it. Do you think if i installed vista back on and then ran the HP recovery (cause its an HP notebook) that i could get it back to factory settings?

Re: I think i screwed up my computer......

Hi,

Yes and no. I think that you should put your vista cd in, then get to the repair os part. Then choose your vista partition if it is still there. Then you should probably be able to get something going on your computer. My no answer is to totally reinstalling vista. If you can help not doing that you won't have to get drivers and install all your software and other files.

Cheers!
