[SOLVED] Novell Firmware?
I know zilch about Novell or scsi for that matter.
When I booted up a friends computer, I saw something about Novell firmware on the screen and then something about a corrupt config.sys file. Then I noticed a clicking coming from the hardrive. I've heard it before. The click of death. There's no data on that drive that he cares about. Anyway, I rebooted and went into the bios. It no longer recognized the hardrive, so I was quite certain that it died as we were looking at it. That AMI bios looks like so many that I've seen on windows machines. The hardrive looked like your typical pata drive. I installed a new pata Seagate drive and the bios doesn't recognize it. I installed a new cable and tried the other bay. (he's got these drive bays that just pull out.) Any way, I can't get it to recognize this new hardrive. This is a scsi setup. Any ideas on how to get the bios to recognize the drive? What's up with the Novel firmware? I take it windows will not install on this machine or what? |

Re: Novell Firmware?
Now I've seen everything. Despite the bios not recognizing the hardrive, I put in my W2000 Pro and it formatted and loaded up without any problem. It runs great. But I look in the bios and it still doesn't recognize the hardrive. It works, that's all I care about.
