Backing up to a new Unix system-need 2nd opinion
Currently running a ticketing system on SCO with two mirrored hard drives. I was told that the backup tapes from this compaq proliant 800 would not be compatible with newer hardware (i.e. drivers, etc.) and would basically be useless unless I could find an exact replica of the current server to install it onto. BUT we don't have the original software install disks, so that probably wouldn't work either.
If I get the same server say from ebay, is it possible to take out one of the hard drives and put it in there? Then set up another raid mirror drive, since it's like 6 years old. Hope this makes sense. I'm not a unix guy by any stretch. Thanks! Last edited by nubie : 09-26-2007 at 02:06 PM. |
