[SOLVED] Firefox -CPU Usage

Guys, I have a quad core with windows Vista and I either use Firefox or Safari to browse but the problem happens with both. After a browsing session and closing the browser down. The CPU usage on my wiget goes up To 50% on all cores. I open the task manager to find two or three entries of Firefox/Safari all running at 25 usage. This continues until I manually select and end the process. If I do not end the process and try to reopen the browser I get no response.

Re: Firefox -CPU Usage

Many Thanks to GearGuy who posted this solution on the Firefox help site.

Quote: If you have updated to Comodo Internet Security version 3.10, you will need to un-install Comodo Safe Surf. The new version of CIS makes SafeSurf obsolete. But because it is an add-on, they did not make its removal part of the upgrade process. To verify before uninstalling, simply right click on the SafeSurf icon in the system tray and choose "Disable...". Firefox and IE should then shutdown properly.

Works a treat, all browsers closing down ok.

Re: Firefox -CPU Usage

Thanks for posting your solution, Peter. It's an obscure one, but I'm sure it will be very useful to others with the same problem.
