[SOLVED] Google Chrome - no flash

Hi people

Just installed 'Google Chrome' and I find it to be faster then IE7, which is good, but then I visited youtube and found that it didn't recognise that I have the latest Flash Player - which I do. I promptly opened IE7 to check if something went wrong with the chrome installation, but youtube was working perfectly, Flash was obviously detected.

Any ideas how to fix this?

or is chrome no good?

Re: Google Chrome - no flash

you can install flash for chrome as well. it doesn't use the one that is installed for IE because it runs on a different software platform. there should have been a "gold" bar, similar to the one in IE7 and IE8, to ask you if you want to install the plug in.

you can also go to adobe's website and download it there

Re: Google Chrome - no flash

cheers BoT

I was prompted to install flash, but didn't think I should need to.

I have since installed flash for chrome and everything works fine.

Still undecided whether it is better then IE7 though. Sure it's a little faster, but it's mssing many features I like in IE

Anyway, thanks for your help.

Ok, I've got IE8 now aswell as Chrome, I find Chrome to be a little faster, but it less intuitive, and has less options all round. The layout on chrome is far less user friendly, I mean, using the one bar for searching and inputing addresses is just wrong. And after searching it often gives me a 'none result page'. My connection is bang on. IE8 never fails.

Chrome seems as basic as it looks

hi-speed, but a little useless

opera costs money, so i'm sticking to IE

Re: [SOLVED] Google Chrome - no flash

i think you hit the nail on the head but your expectations of chrome might not be in line.
chrome is/was supposed to be a no thrills browser, only delivering pure speed and stability. i find it to work better with sites that are very content rich, it also interprets css, java and flash better then IE.
i usually us both well, really i have them all installed chrome, safari, IE, FF and opera. i really like opera and as far as i know it's still free. i just wish opera would stop trying to compete with FF for the desktop browser crown.
