ie8 and firefox crashing

all my web browsers keep crashing sometimes i will get 10m use and sometimes i will get 1 hour.this happens in both ie8 and firefox i know this must be a problem with my laptop running vista as my desktop running xp has no problems.
when this first started i tried to do a system restore but vista said there was an error and could not do this.
just before this started i was having trouble installing sp1 and was told by ms to delete everything in these files.

i dont know if this is where the problem is.

Start > RUN > eventvwr
Look for red errors particularly under Application and System that occurred when the crashes happened, then let us know.

try uninstalling firefox and IE and reinstalling them and see what happen!
