Can't connect to internet - limited or no connectivity.

My friend gave me her computer recently and I can't connect to the internet. It connected to the internet find just before I was given it. It says limited or no connectivity. I have contacted virgin who said the IP address isn't connecting to the interface - it can't pick up the signal. I can't understand why it would work fine for my friend but not for me. Can you help?? I have tried reconfiguring the ip address several times already.

Hi,

Welcome to TSF!!

Give us all the information that you think is important. The things that I would really like to know is what type of connection do you have, cable, dsl, dialup? Also, what type of setup do you have, tell me about all the boxes from your connection to your computer.

Cheers!
