You Tube and Chrome

I cannot make Chrome work on You Tube. I have googled it, and found this is not uncommon. I followed the instructions on this site:
http://www.coderetard.com/2008/10/22...google-chrome/

but it did not work for me -- perhaps because they are a bit old.

Anyone have a good solution? I like how speedy Chrome is, but too many pages it can't handle and I will have to go to another browser.

Thanks!

Re: Flash Plug in for Chrome

Hi,

Have you tried just going to adobe and installing flash? This would be what I would try first. The directions on that page seem a little weird.

Cheers!

Re: Flash Plug in for Chrome

Actually I think I have flash in some circumstances as I went to the Adobe site and there is a test flash page that works. However, You tube says the message saying that a video is no longer there has to do with flash not working -- or at least that is how I read the FAQS. Or it could be javascript, but I do not see anywhere to turn that on or off.

Re: Flash Plug in for Chrome

I don't know about chrome all that much. I haven't really ever tried it. I might think about trying it when they get put out a stable version without so many kinks. So I don't know where to look for javascript.

Cheers!

Re: Flash Plug in for Chrome

Just in case anyone stumbles across this thread, I solved the problem. Or rather found someone who had solved the problem. Wish I had entitled the thread You Tube and Chrome. Anyhow, the discussion came up on Google groups

http://groups.google.com/group/googl...2100f9a450ca9d

Here is the solution in that thread that worked for me -- it had to do with how Kaspersky Anti-Virus handles things:

Quote:
Hi folks, here is a solution I found after some testing (running
Kaspersky 7.0.0.125).
The problem lies in the "web anti-virus" module.
Fix (avoiding disabling the whole web protection) :
In the "web anti-virus" tab under "protection" main page, click
"configure", then "customize", then replace the "buffering scan"
traffic scan method with the "streaming scan" method, by checking the
appropriate box, then OK.
Close chrome if open, then retry reading a youtube video with chrome.
Should work fine.
I think the issue is the way the HTTP headers are handled by
Kaspersky, that's why I would recommend non Kaspersky users who have
that problem and reading this post to try disabling any software that
can modify traffic in any way (mainly anti virus, software firewalls
and stuff like google web accelerator it seems).
Let me know if it helped, cheers !

Re: Flash Plug in for Chrome

I see the URL didn't come through, so I'll do a tiny one. Apparently a similar thing crops up with IE8

http://tinyurl.com/9bae4o

I never would have thought of anti-virus. Too many programs working for us I guess, all at cross purposes!
