Question Adware creeps to Safari Mac & Win

I have a malware/adware problem in Safari (Windows Vista SP1). I first encountered it in Safari Mac(10.4), then later it began to happen in the Windows version.
Now and then a small advertisement popup will appear in the Safari window for a few seconds and then dissapear. It is not a frequent occurance. It may have a click to close box or not. It may display in a box form or free form image.
I have McAfee on Vista, Norton on Mac, and both report clean. I do not have a server; and both Mac and Windows platforms attach to the router LAN (ethernet and/or WiFi). There is no Xplatform file sharing/converting software on any computer. All file sharing preferences are off all platforms. Yet, somehow this adware problem has migrated to Safari on both.
I have downloaded gmer to Vista. and performed a scan and have fetched/saved a "gmer.txt" file BUT the instructions were NOT clear to me on how to fetch the other file required (dds.scr?? --- where's that!) so I have no "Attach.txt" Help. Thanks.

Welcome to TSF!!

Hi,

I would recommend that you take a look at this, PC Safety and Security--What Do I need?. There is a lot of information that is presented but, it will give you a good place to start and then we can go from there.

Cheers!
