For the past 3 days AOL has been loading when no one is at the computer. We can shut it down and it comes back up. I have run a full scan to check for virus' and have gone to AOL Settings and clicked "no" on all the items there. It's still happening today. Any ideas where I can disable this, it's just irritating if I'm in the middle of working on a spreadsheet and AOL pops up.
Thanks in advance. |

Re: AOL loading when no one is around
Welcome to TSF!!
Hi, I would recommend that you do a check for spyware or adware too. There might be other things on your computer than just viruses that are causing the problem. I would recommend that you take a look at this as well PC Safety and Security--What do I need Cheers!

Thanks ever so much for your time and info. I finally have had time to go through all the tips and did do the Microsoft updates which I didn't get earlier and I did the Snoop thingy. So, lets see if all this helps, I know it can't hurt.
I'm glad I found you all and have a place to go to for help.

Hi Everyone:
I did what was suggested on the PC Security site and ended up getting more Microsoft updates, which weren't there the week before when I updated. I also did another full scan of everything I had for protection. That night, I was still having AOL load. However, I guess it was due to the fact that I needed to reboot for everything to take hold, the next day and every day since, NO AOL. I'm a happy camper. I ruled out everything I hadn't done and did what I had to do. So THANK YOU...THANK YOU...THANK YOU!!! ![]() You are SO appreciated. |
