AVG and AOL 9.0 HELP!!
Hey. I recently became aware of a virus on my laptop computer and so after seeking advice i decided to install AVG Free to try to eliminate the problem. AVG scanned the system and detected 5 trojan horses and 1 virus, and moved them to the virus vault, whereby i deleted them to remove them from the system. Since this problem i have not been able to connect to the internet through AOL 9.0 I cant connect through Internet Explorer either although my laptop is picking up the network connection from my router, and is definately working as others in my household can connect. Anybody have any ideas? I would really love to get my internet working by christmas again so pleasee pleasee if anyone has experienced a similar problem, help! Thanks in advance...

Re: AVG and AOL 9.0 HELP!!
The first problem is that you are using AOL. AOL is satan and should not be used by anyone.
Here are some tips for virus prevention in the future upon being notified of them being on your system. Make sure as soon as one is detected that you unplug your internet. Many viruses these days will continue to send more and more viruses to your computer in the background if your internet is on. Install a firewall as well. Comodo is a great free one but you can also get an very good lightweight on called Sunbelt for only 10 bucks. As for your internet connection I would not guess that AVG caused this in their detection. They have not had many troubles in the past dealing with the deletion of good files. As for your internet connection, it would be incredibly hard to find what the problem is, it could be a number of things. One would have to look at your computer and the settings to find the problem. As much as I hate the geek squad, bring it to them to test it. If you can avoid them do so, maybe you have a tech savvy friend. Sorry I couldn't troubleshoot your network problem better.

Re: AVG and AOL 9.0 HELP!!
I strongly recommend you not use AOL as it's a security nightmare.
If you're using a wireless network you need to make sure it's properly communicating.
