dont worry, I know the difference but I have an unconventional question. i am currently having a problem with my firewalls and i know that i can bypass the firewalls on secure sites. problem is, not all sites are secure. i dont want to look at porn or anything, i just want to get onto facebook, etc. so, is it possible to access an unsecured site securely? or am i just plain crazy?

Re: Unsecure sites/secure sites
I know what you mean about facebook- I grimace every time I have to log onto it and look at the address bar to see that it's not even using SSL... pretty pathetic.
The only way I've found to establish a connection that's tamper-resistant to packet sniffing and other garbage is to set up a VPN server on a trusted computer at home, and just connect to that whenever you're away. The problem you'll probably face with this, though, is that you need to install a VPN client on the machine you plan on using, so if this computer is a university, school, or work computer, it might be too limited to do this.
