Cant open Websites without WWW.
Hey guys sometimes i cant open websites if i dont place www or http:// in the address bar of any web browsers i used. how come?

there is a real teccy answer to this that i can't remember, but it is out there. It is about IP adresses, the way browsers handle web addresses and some other web wizardry, but generally google and the big sites only need 'google' in the address. Damn i wish i could remember and look really clever! lol. Maybe becuase they have dedicated servers for themselves whereas other pages are rented from other companies who allot ip addresses for their clients.

1) This depends on your browser. For example, I'm using Opera and if I type 'google' into the address bar, it resolves to http://www.google.com.
2) If you only type www.google.com into most browsers, you'll notice that they resolve to http://www.google.com |
