Opera not TRULY the deafault browser.

Hi all,
Well, I use Opera as my default browser. However, I still have things that open links in Internet Explorer. I'm assuming that's just the way the programs were written, but is there a way to change this?
I'm not a huge fan of removing something I didn't put there in the first place, so I haven't attempted the uninstallation of IE.

Much Appreciated,
~Evanescent

Hello

Just double checking, when you opened Opera and received the dialog box asking if you would like for Opera to be the default browser did you check yes? If not or you are unsure do this

Open Opera > Go to Tools > Preferences > Advanced > Programs
Tick the checkbox for "Check if Opera is default browser on startup".
Next time you start Opera, answer "Yes" when the dialog asks you if you want Opera to be the default browser on your computer.

Hope this helps

If you have an html file on your computer, then you can:

right click it -> goto Open With -> Choose Program -> Select the Program from a List -> Select Opera and choose Always choose this program.

And it's nice to see another Opera user!!

Another option if those fall through (they shouldn't, but just in case)...

Start > Programs > Set Program Access and Defaults

Click the down arrow on the right hand side of the window of Custom

Make sure that "Use my current web browser" is checked, if not, check it, and have "enable access to this program" checked.

Good luck
