Update Problems in Firefox
I'm having a problem with updating both Flashplayer and Quicktime. Any new flash games or movies I want to see require Flash 9, so I click the update link, and it takes me to the official Macromedia Download Center, I DL the installation, install it, restart Firefox, even restart my computer, and it still says I have version 8. And, yes, I have checked that I am indeed installing 9, not 8. One thing that might be a cause of this is when I open the installation file, it shows an installation path, and I just click install. Is there a specific place I should be installing flashplayer, or just stick with the default?
Also, I'm having problem with Quicktime. For many sites, including quicktime.com, I get a popup that says "The Quicktime Plugin requires Quicktime system extension version 5 or later" and it gives me a link to where to go. I go there, install quicktime, and still, I get this error message. I've even completely uninstalled Quicktime and downloaded the latest one and it still refuses to work. Any suggestions? If you have any other questions about my Computer that may help find the answer feel free to ask and I'll provide the info to the best of my ability. |
