Backup and Restore Mozilla Profiles, Bookmarks etc

MozBackup is a simple utility for creating backups of Firefox, Thunderbird, SeaMonkey, Mozilla Suite and Netscape profiles. It allows you to backup and restore bookmarks, mail, contacts, history, extensions, cache, etc.

Will this program backup your options (i.e. proxy settings) and your "bookmarks toolbar" settings?

Cheers

They should be covered by 'General Settings' which are backed up by default as part of your Profile.

Re: Backup and Restore Mozilla Profiles, Bookmarks etc

I use the FEBE extension, does a great job and runs within FF2003.

Re: Backup and Restore Mozilla Profiles, Bookmarks etc

Whoa. Finally, a program to back-up my bookmarks and settings! I can't even begin to define how frustrating it was, loosing all of my links when I'd update FireFox...

Re: Backup and Restore Mozilla Profiles, Bookmarks etc

Just backup Mozilla folders located in "Programs Files" & "Application Data" and restore them when needed after installing firefox & thunderbird overwriting all files

no need to have a 3rd party application

you will get back all settings , extensions , extensions' setting , bookmarks and "messages folders and rules"

regards,,,

Re: Backup and Restore Mozilla Profiles, Bookmarks etc

In addition to the FEBE extension that Cor'e mentioned, Foxmarks is also an option. Foxmarks works great for me and is an operating system independent way to synchronize your Firefox data. It has some profile and password syncing capability (the latter off by default - and I haven't tried it). Still haven't done much with the profiles myself though.

Here, try installing this addon: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/1419
It's called IE Tab. Basically, what it does is give you an icon on your status bar that lets you switch between Firefox and IE for the tab you're in by clicking it (it will run a virtual iexplore.exe process within the browser). You can even set it to always use IE for certain sites (it defaults to IE for Microsoft Update at the very least) through the addon's options menu.

edit: Foxmarks works great, just make sure you don't delete the saved passwords or the next time Foxmarks syncs.......
(especially watch out for the antivirus programs that try to enable the "always clear my private data" and disable the "check before clearing private data" options *cough*Norton 360*cough*)

Re: Backup and Restore Mozilla Profiles, Bookmarks etc

Re: Backup and Restore Mozilla Profiles, Bookmarks etc

I second FEBE. It runs from within Firefox. You can select exactly what part of your profile you want backed up. It can also be used to roll all your installed addons and themes into one single addon file which can be used if you choose to create a new profile or for a new intallation. It also lets you schedule backups and lets you set reminders for backups.

I also second IEtab. I've never had to use IE since installing it.

Re: Backup and Restore Mozilla Profiles, Bookmarks etc

It's good. I will use it for bookmarking details and profiles in Mozilla. Thanks for information.
