Firefox can not access internet after "standby".

I am a new user of both Mozilla Firefox and Thunderbird and simply love both of them. Point of reference: AOL is my ISP which I plan to change in the new future.

When I use Firefox first thing in the morning, it works perfectly, however after the computer has gone on standby, Firefox is unable to connect to the internet until after I have shut down the computer and done a reboot.

I get the following message:
Server not found
Firefox can't find the server at www.google.com.
* Check the address for typing errors such as ww.example.com instead of www.example.com
* If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer's network
connection.
* If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure that Firefox is permitted to access the Web.

Can anyone please tell me what I can do so that this does not happen?

Kasey

Are you using a laptop or a desktop? Dialup or broadband? And what operation system are you using?

Try right clicking on the desktop and go to properties. Then click on the screen saver tab. The click on power and go to the and set system standby to never. Then go to the advanced tab and make sure it is set to do nothing when lid is closed. System standby will end your internet connect and this prevent this from happening. You can still et it turn off the monitor and hard drive with out any worries.

Re: Firefox can not access internet after "standby".

I'm having the same difficulty. We have electricity outage several times a day and my laptop battery runs out in almost thirty minutes, then it goes into standby mode automatically. Usually I don't sit in front of computer all day but keep it connected to download difference files. But most of the time when I get back to it I have to restart everything all over again. Please help me.
