I started up Firefox today, and all my bookmarks were erased. :( What happened?

If you have version 1.5 of Firefox, then there is a folder called bookmarkbackups (in your profile directory) that contain revisions of your bookmarks. Just import them back into your browser.
In XP, you can find it here... Code:
C:\Documents and Settings\<Windows login/user name>\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\<Profile name>\ Last edited by Resolution; 12-20-2005 at 01:03 PM. |

I think it is hidden. Make sure you enable " show hidden files and folders".

In the directory that contains the bookmarkbackups folder (not in the bookmarkbackups folder), there should be a file called bookmarks.html. Delete it. Then go into the bookmarkbackups folder, find the latest backup that contains your bookmarks and rename it to bookmarks.html. Put that file back into the directory where you deleted the other one. Close all firefox windows, then relaunch firefox and your bookmarks should be visible from within the browser.

Did you perhaps start FF with another profile? If you set up FF using your name the first time and somehow started this time using the "default" profile, it won't know who you are.
