I use Firefox 1.5 with cookies disabled (execpt for the sites I visit regularly which are added to the 'allow cookies' list in Options > Privacy > Cookies > Exceptions). The only blocker I use is the NoScript extension for javascript. I've never had any popups in the 3 years I've been using Firefox, but hundreds when using IE at work.
I've just visited your link using Firefox and IE 5.5, no popups. Try deleting all your cookies and run some spyware/virus checks. If that doesn't help, post a HJT log here after reading these instructions. EDIT: you can see how the problem is solved using a HJT log here. Please don't carry out any of the instructions in this link as they are specific to the other person's PC. I only posted it to show how close you are to having a clean system Good luck!

i've got cookie culler. i opened it (tools > cookie culler) and the 'pop-up' cookies were in there. i deleted them, and any other cookie that didnt look familiar, and ticked the box that doesnt allow those sites to set cookies. i also installed 'no script' (tools > extensions) and everything seems to be working fine. there's like a bar at the bottom of window whenever it blocks something, and when i click on it, it gives an option wheter to allow the site to set cookies or not.
so, yeah. thats what i done, and now the pop-ups dont occur. just for anyone else with this problem, thats how i stopped it. i'm not sure whether having cookie culler had anything to do with the solution, but it was there, and now the cookies/pop-ups arent. if you dont have cookie culler you can find and block your cookies by going here: tools > options > privacy > cookies > view cookies then before removing the bad cookies tick the box that says 'dont allow sites that set removed cookies to set future cookies' |

No problem. Glad you got it sorted. I still think you should consider posting a HJT log as 'Ad Yieldmanager' is considered malware, so the cause of these popups might still be on your system, just hidden at the moment.
I haven't tried the Cookie Culler extension. Another way of dealing with cookies in Firefox is to go to Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies, deselect the 'Allow sites to set cookies' option, then click the Exceptions button to allow the sites you know are safe. eg. my exceptions include techsupportforums.com, google.co.uk, amazon.co.uk, imageshack.us etc. All others are blocked without question. Did you ever resolve this issue at http://www.techsupportforum.com/gene...nager-com.html ?

Passwords are usually stored in cookies. Check your settings and allow Hotmail to create one.

How have you got the cookies options set up? I think you need to enable 3rd party cookies, which is controlled in Firefox by 'Allow site to set cookies'... uncheck 'for the originating site only'
Or there may be a '3rd party cookies' option in the Cookie Culler extension.

i think what i must of done was when i deleted the cookies and ticked the box 'dont allow sites that set removed cookies to set future cookies', i must have accidently removed a cookie i need for hotmail, and now it wont set another cookie. do you know how to reset the options or something. i tried unticking the box and retrying hotmail, but still dont work.

Many changes require you to at least logout/login, or restart windows in order to make effective.

You might try this. Open up your firefox settings, select the "Privacy" tab, and select the cookies subsection, as before. Click the button that says "Exceptions", and click "Remove All Sites"
(Alternatively, you can poke through the list that is there and remove them manually, but I am imagining that you didn't purposely set any filters) |
