Hi. I cant seem to get the specific action regarding this problem or something similar. I only had Internet explorer for a month or so sice I purchased my computer. It wasnt working last week, so I decided to search stuffs regarding it and came to a conclusion: System Restore solved the problem.
So, I decided to download more firefox so that it'll be safer. But then, it said: Unable to Connect # The site could be temporarily unavailable or too busy. Try again in a few moments. # If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer's network connection. # If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure that Firefox is permitted to access the Web. But my IE and instant messenger are working just fine. I tried the other browsers, none of them work too. ![]() I have no other Antivirus software except for the one installed with the comp. IM running on a Vista. Thnx!

Re: Firefox: Unable to connect as well as other browsers[EXCEPT Internet Explorer]
Hi, welcome to TSF
Check your firewall to see if it's blocking internet access to Firefox. Whenever you install a new program, the firewall blocks its access to the internet by default as a precaution until you tell it that the program is safe to use. The firewall usually shows a small popup window in the corner of the screen asking you whether to allow or block the program. Maybe you missed seeing it the first time it appeared, or ignored it if you weren't sure what it meant. You just need to allow it, and tick the box that says 'Remember this setting'. This lets the firewall know that Firefox is safe.

Re: Firefox: Unable to connect as well as other browsers[EXCEPT Internet Explorer]
If none of sites is reachable, then it's proxy, firewall or DNS issue. Try to ping a web site such as www.google.com.
If you cannot resolve IP address, then it's DNS issue. If ping is timed out, you may use a proxy. Check network setting in IE and replicate it to Firefox (usually 'Options\Connection Settings\Auto-detect proxy settings for this network' will work). If you can ping the site, then use telnet host 80 to connect the port. Failure indicates a firewall issue. |
