Cannot access a website on any browser!

Hi

I am looking for some help, i don't know a lot about PC's and i am sorry if this is in the wrong thread - i didn't know which one to put it in and as i use firefox more than any other browser i thought i would start off here!

This morning, i was using Facebook with no problems whatsoever, however, i rebooted the machine (desktop, vista) and i can't access FB at all.

I have tried Firefox, IE, Opera and google chrome.

On IE, it times out instantly (IE8), on the others it tried to load then i get an error resembling a timeout error - it differs depending on the browser but in Firefox it is

"Connection Interrupted

The connection to the server was reset while the page was loading.

The network link was interrupted while negotiating a connection. Please try again."

I haven't installed anything, or changed anything and apart from that above, i get no errors.

I would really appreciate any help in trying to get this sorted and will be happy to provide any information to aid this.

Apologies again if this is in the wrong section and thank you so much in advance of your help.

Susan

Hi,
Did you check your internet connection on the status bar to make sure everything was working normally?

I did indeed - There are no problems, in fact my net is as fast at the moment as it has ever been.

Re: Cannot access a website on any browser!

Hello again,

I'm not too familiar with the Vista OS, but on XP, you can try to go to internet options > advanced tab > then reset settings.

If there is no way to do this on Vista, You may also try to go to a friends computer and download Windows Explorer and save the .exe file on a jump drive, transfer it to your computer and install IE after you un-install all the files you have from the current one.

P.S. - Sorry for the delay on that one, I was away. I appologize. :(
