[SOLVED] Stay Logged In

I`m told by some that logging in to the forum can be permanent. That means to me that i never have to login and if i leave the forum and come back several times i will be still logged on. Is this true and could you tell me how to go about it. I know "remember me" can be clicked but there`s something else.

Re: Stay Logged In

Have firefox remember your login, and password. Go to Tools > Options > Security > check the box that says Remember passwords for sites, then log out, and log back in and check the "Remember Me" this will place a cookie on your computer, then you will get a popup at the top of the page asking if you want firefox to remember the password accept it. Then when ever you return you will automatically be logged in.

Re: Stay Logged In

Thank You. I tried that but it`s not keeping me logged in all the time. The "remember me" is ticked all the time even though i untick it when i log in again it`s already ticked. From what i hear it`s possible to be logged in permanent and not have to type in username and password? My screen shots show what`s in privacy and security.

Re: Stay Logged In

Is your forum password in the Saved Passwords list under the Firefox Options Security tab?

Do you have any other security programs or Firefox addons that could be blocking cookies?

When you type the first letter of your username when logging into the forum, does it auto-complete the rest of your name and show asterisks for the password?

Re: Stay Logged In

Thank You for your reply. Answers to your questions (1) Yes forum password is saved in there. (2) I have avg Internet Security-Extensions>avg & google toolbar(screen shot of plugins attached) (3) username doesn`t auto complete-password dots/asterisks appear when cursor clicked.

Re: Stay Logged In

Yes i found the answer. I changed "when i close Firefox" to "keep until they expire" and now i`m signed in automatically to sites.(see attached)

Re: Stay Logged In

Thanks for posting your solution.

I should have noticed that you had 'Keep cookies until I close Firefox' enabled from your first screenshot. That is the setting that deletes all your cookies every time you close Firefox, meaning you have to start over as new with each browsing session.

If you'd like to try another way of managing cookies, I block ALL cookies (remove checkmark from the 'Accept cookies from sites' box), and then use the Exceptions list to manually add the few trusted sites I want to allow cookies for. This means I never get any unwanted cookies, and the sites I add to the Exceptions list always remember me when I return and never ask for a username or password.
