Re: FF Won't Remember Passwords; Emails Open in IE

OK, I guess I'm not getting much help here. You can close this thread and I'll try another forum.

Re: FF Won't Remember Passwords; Emails Open in IE

Sorry it has been taking a long time for me to reply. I have been very busy with some time sensitive things in my own life.

Well, I'm fairly certain it's an external program deleting your cookies, but this is only a problem that I can see happening on Windows. Since I cannot get to my Windows VM until I have time to work on my own system maintenance, I cannot tinker with Malwarebytes (which I suspect needs some settings changed). Also, if CCleaner is set up to remove cookies, that could stop the autologin.

Your browser itself seems to be configured fine, so that's not the issue.

Re: FF Won't Remember Passwords; Emails Open in IE

I understand. I appreciate what you tried to do. I have recreated my FF profile and that seems to have helped. I'll work on IE some other time.

You can go ahead and close the thread.

Eh, they don't close threads unless a rule is broken--usually by the OP. You can mark this post as solved by going to your OP--original post--and clicking on Thread Tools-->Mark Post as Solved.

Also I'd just like to welcome you to the forums... even though I'm a bit late ^.^;;

Re: FF Won't Remember Passwords; Emails Open in IE

Sorry chaps, been away for a week or so unexpectedly.

When I was scanning this thread again I noticed this sentence has since been included:-
Quote:
I do not appear to have any signons*.txt files or a key3.db file.
These files are the password files and without them you won't have any password functions. Reinstalling Firefox will do absolutely nothing as they are located in your Profile folder. This info would have been very helpful sooner methinks!

For Information purposes:-
signons.txt = pre Firefox 2.0.0.2
signons2.txt = up to last build Firefox 2.*
signons3.txt = Firefox 3.*

key3.db constant in all builds.

If you upgrade from Firefox 2.* to Firefox 3.* the signons2.txt file is NOT deleted in case you wish to return to the earlier version.

Hindsight solution!! Backup your Profile(s) so they can be restored.

Re: [SOLVED] FF Won't Remember Passwords; Emails Open in IE

I guess closing this thread does nothing!

Not a very helpful reply. I posted that information when I found it - 10 days ago. I should have posted it sooner???? I posted it because I was hoping someone would tell me how to get them to re-load, not to tell me it was a problem. I knew that.

I had already installed FF3.1.13 and it did not restore the files. You are telling me something that I already tried and didn't work.

I'm sure you mean well, and I appreciate your efforts, but your posts haven't helped in my situation.

Try this

JHedding, I had the same problem after changing my password. Here's how I fixed it.

Go to the login and then use your up/down arrow. What was happening on mine was there was a username field that was blank --- selecting it brought up the new password but not the user name, that field was left blank.

So key through it with the arrow and then delete that blank field.

Now log in and it should hopefully ask you this time, now that you've deleted that entry, if want to have FF remember the password, if yours goes like mine did. Hope it works for you.
