My Firefox needs almost a half minute for a cold start and 11 for a startups after that. I have tried reinstalling Firefox, creating a new profile, deleting many bookmarks, but they all didn't really work.
I don't have any themes. I've limited my extensions to the ones I really need: - AdBlock Plus - FEBE - Greasemonkey - IE Tab - LeechBlock (atm disabled) - NoSquint - SkipScreen (atm disabled) (and Java Quick Starter 1.0 is there as well) And it's still slow. (Unless those startup times are considered normal?) Now I was just wondering, do changes made to the userChrome file affect the startup time? I've made lots of changes and I couldn't think of any other reason for this slowness.. I'm using Windows XP Professional, 2 GHz, 2GB of RAM. I'm getting pretty sick of this as I really love Firefox and would like it to startup within a few seconds. Any help will be greatly appreciated! |

Re: userChrome anything to do with Firefox startup speed?
11 minutes? Wow.
I advised someone earlier to install the latest release of Firefox here, because of speed issues. Uninstall and install the new version and let us know how you get on please. |

Re: userChrome anything to do with Firefox startup speed?
Thanks for your reply!
Oh haha, sorry. That should be 11 seconds. Okay, I've just uninstalled and reinstalled the 3.5 RC3. But no luck. It still takes about 30 seconds to startup immediately after logging into Windows. I haven't imported any of my settings yet and told the uninstaller to remove my settings. So the problem probably aren't my extensions, profile, modifications etc... Does anyone know what could be the problem? Please help. Thanks! Last edited by nostalgia; 06-27-2009 at 06:09 AM. |

Re: userChrome anything to do with Firefox startup speed?
30 seconds is about average for Firefox, even without addons installed.
It's never been as fast to load as Internet Explorer, because IE has most of its components built into the operating system, so they are loaded when Windows starts.

Re: userChrome anything to do with Firefox startup speed?
Oh, I see.. Firefox on my sister's computer started up much faster though, but I think she still has version 2. something. So it's because of the version then? Did Firefox get slower (with starting up at least) since 3.0?
