Hello,
Q #1: Why does Firefox take sooooooooooo long to boot up and get to my homepage. I tried disabling all plugins and it still takes a Long time. Any suggestions? Q #2: When im on a website and i want to open a new tab and lets make an example: 1st tab:http://www.techsupportforum.com 2nd Tab:CnyJsa.org 1st tab opens fine and fast. HOWEVER whenever i try to have 2 tabs running i cannot seem to have the other tab load even after the 1st tab starts loading... I checked my computer for Virus, SPyware, Adware... ETC I found nothing (used AVG 8.0 Full)(Super AntiVirus)(Spybot S&D). Why does this happen? Thanks for the help. I will check back on this thread tomorrow around 6:35 AM EST |

Re: 2 questions..,
Hey, #1 what's your homepage? what's your computer's spec? and what version of FF are you running?
#2 again this is probably a PC spec thing, what's your spec? It could also be your network/firewall not allowing too many HTTP connections in/out (over-paranoid network)... Post back with more info. Cheers, Jamey p.s. just out of curiousity what's the performance like on IE? (Do not consider going back to IE, FF is the better browser =]) |

Re: 2 questions..,
The network issue would be obvious from the way your network is set up and if another browser acts in the same way. (Example being IE, which is why i asked about performance of IE?)
I think i'm going to go down undocked windy's route here... - Press [Winkey]+R or click start-run to open the run dialogue - Type firefox.exe -safe-mode - Press run Then try everything again, if it's still just as slow post back saying so. Cheers, Jamey p.s. Actually if it's still as slow, please clear your private data (Tools->Options->Privacy->Clear Now) because temporary files can cause this sort of lag (but you'd need to be downloading Gigabytes at a time. |

Re: 2 questions..,
Who's your ISP? (Just out of curiosity)...
Actually, if IE is fine and FF slow, and FF still slow in safe mode, i see no way it could be network based etc. Did you clear your private data? Next thing to do would be to back up your profile (with MozBackup) then try either a new profile(google how) and/or a re-install... If there's still no joy after all that then go down the virus root (go to the Virus Help subforum and read the instructions there). Cheers, Jamey p.s. can you link this to a specific date(/action) or has it always been like this? Last edited by jamiemac2005; 06-08-2009 at 03:46 PM. |
