aol overriding firefox

My pc is running xp and has aol and LAN connection. I want to do away with aol and just use firefox to get online. My LAN is connected, but when I try to go through firefox, I just get a blank page which won't allow navigation.

and welcome to the Forum

You can uninstall AOL in Add/Remove Programs . . then run the "set up an internet connection" wizard to get online

Re: aol overriding firefox

I tried that, but to no avail. The LAN is connected, but I can't seem to get firefox to work.

Confused Re: aol overriding firefox

no, IE doesn't respond either. The system is telling me that the LAN is connected. When I called Frontier, they said that the problem is that aol is overriding the firefox system.

Hey Rich,
Thanks for your help. I have to go out for awhile and I'll check back in later.

Let's try this:

Click on Start . . Run . . type CMD

At the > prompt type type the following command: IPCONFIG /ALL

Note that there is a space before the /ALL, but there is NOT a space after the / in the following command.

Right click in the command window and choose Select All, then hit Enter. Come back here and Paste the results in a message.

If you are on a machine with no network connection, use a floppy, USB disk, or a CD-RW disk to transfer a text file with the information to allow pasting it here.
