google pop-up on start up.
Whenever I open firefox, i get a pop-up window saying "We know you just want the toolbar..." then it ask me to click for toolbar options such as "disable page rank." It's a big ugly grey box.
so i click, don't enable page rank and something else; then it opens 4 tabs in my window, "thanks for installing ...items." ![]() finally, a smaller grey box asking me to keep yahoo as my main browser comes up and i always click "no" as it was never my main browser. then it says, click don't ask me again, AND I CLICK don't ask me again. BUT IT ALWAYS ASK ME AGAIN, EVERYTIME I START FIREFOX. It just randomly started while using the internet a couple of weeks ago. I uploaded beta 4 thinking a different version would solve the problem but it didn't. previously I was using 3.1.

Re: google pop-up on start up.
Hey, can you open firefox in safe mode (click start->run and type "firefox.exe -safe-mode" and click ok)...
if it still happens then i think it's a virus problem and you should go about posting in the virus help forum. if it doesn't happen then go to tools->add-ons, and look for anything suspicios, if you find something then disable/uninstall it. Cheers, Jamey |

Re: google pop-up on start up.
Thanks,
I rain it in safe mode, checked remove add-on's and it solved the pop-up problem, ![]() when the window open, it only had two tabs. One is my "google start up page" and the other, thanks for installing beta 3, which i did two weeks ago. Why is that one coming up? I am happy to have come this far though. |

Re: google pop-up on start up.
Okay, you need to find the add-on and delete it then.
And i'm sure it's probably because you started in safe mode. And usually that throws random problems. So find and delete the add-on that's messing you about and delete it and open normally (no safe mode) again. Cheers, Jamey |
