gmail notifier

not sure if this is where I should be posting but looking for help to fix gmail notifier. It was working fine for years. I've tried uninstalling, reinstalling and still does not work. I've checked settings within gmail and I believe I have configured correctly.

Will move this to the Firefox forum as this is an add on for Firefox
When you say it is not working what is wrong is it not showing up in the system tray?
Does it just sit there and does nothing? etc.

notifier envelope appears in system tray with quotation mark. when pointing to it, says cannot log into mailbox (12057), the servers certificate is invalid.
