Problem with Firefox 3.0.6

I'm not sure if its an inherent problem with Firefox or Flash 10 but when I'm on http://revision3.com/ waching a video or even a webcomic my computer just freezes and I have to restart

I know its not a problem with my graphics card as its around 42C on idle and around 64 - 69C (depending on room temperature) on load

I can play video with VLC player and its fine

my CPU is around 42C on idle ( a little hot but I can't afford anything right now)

this is just odd as I have everything up to date I think

I'll go through whatever steps you want me to do.

Re: Problem with Firefox 3.0.6

Hi,

Sorry to hear that this is giving you such a problem. I see that you just did the update to 3.0.6. When you were at 3.0.5 were you able watch all the videos from revision? Also, I would take a look at your add-ons. Go to the plugins tab and make sure that you aren't missing anything. I check today to see if I am having the same problem, but I can watch the videos.

Start with that and see what you get from it, then we can go from there.

Cheers!

Re: Problem with Firefox 3.0.6

OK so I'm going to post my

plug ins
add ons

disable the plug in for VLC player.

I recently formatted my comp around a month ago. but yes iwas able to watch videos. I think that was before the plug in from VLC player

Well I stupidly failed to burn Windows 7 beta DVD and I then when I was trying to reinstall Ubuntu without using disk management. I did backup my most important thing though my music (75 gigs worth = 17 dvd's)

so I'm going to check but yea I very much doubt its from my Anti Virus and spyware

AV = NOD32
Anti Spyware = Spybot with Teatimer

BTW do you ever use "Snipping tool" its a like a selective screen capture program where you can use a cropping tool to capture what you want in Vista? it easier than cropping "print screen" images in Paint.

Edit: usually 3-7 minutes of play time before the computer freezes

Re: Problem with Firefox 3.0.6

Hi,

Ok, This might sound weird but I have seen lately that a lot of AV's have been doing updates that have been screwing with FF. I don't know if NOD has done one too but I do know that you might want to try turning it off and see what happens just for a little while.

Cheers!

Re: Problem with Firefox 3.0.6

ok I disabled NOD32 whil watching and you were right, its not playing well with Firefox 3.0.6.

I watched the last 20 mins of the show and it was stable.
Weird thing was happening though. My mouse pointer was disapearing off and on every 1/2 to quarter second for a 1/8 of a second.

I think it may have to do with my high end G9 gaming mouse running at:
3200 dpi
and 1000 reports per second

its only happening on revision3 as far as I know

Re: Problem with Firefox 3.0.6

Hi,

Ok so we know the problem. I don't know the answer to the problem at the moment. I am thinking that this is a bigger problem involving the new update of FF. I will do a little looking and see if there is any talk of it on any of the mozilla forums.

Cheers!
