Microsoft, wants to control my browsing prefrences....

Hi, I'm a new member and I've had this problem for a few months.

I'm a Windows Vista User. My probelm: IE works fine, BUT Firefox and all other browsers dont work. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling, but the problem continues. IE is pretty bad on Vista. I'm also having another problem. I tried downloading Google Chrome, but there is always an installation error...Is there some sort of Microsoft conspiracy??!!

If anyone can help, please do. (And I have my firewall OFF, so that's not the problem.)

Hi,

Welcome to TSF!!

I would like you to explain a little more what you mean by the don't work. Are you having problems with them being install? You mention that you are having problem installing Chrome. Do you know what the error is that you are getting.

Until we are able to get something working on your computer. I would recommend that you turn your Firewall back on.

Cheers!

Re: Microsoft, wants to control my browsing prefrences....

When i say "doesn't work" I mean that firefox and even Opera are unable to connect to the internet, while IE can do it just fine.

And the Chrome problem is that when i try to install, it's unable to connect to the internet to complete the installation.

So, in other words, every single thing that isn't IE can't connect to the internets, and i'm not happy about it.

Hi,

Ok, Let me see if I can be a little bit more descriptive too. I am looking for something like what error message you are getting when you connect to the internet. Do you get a 404 error, or what is the message that pops up on the screen. I hope that this helps a little bit.

Cheers!

Re: Microsoft, wants to control my browsing prefrences....

Well that was fast...

Well when i boot up Firefox i get the good ol' "Firefox can't establish a connection to the server" message.

When i try to install Chrome i get: Installation Failed. Ensure that your computer is connected to the internet and try again. Error Code 0x80072efd"

I'm pretty sure my Firefox/Chrome/Opera problems are related. Same thing happened when i tried installing Pinnacle Studio. I register online. Connection failed.

Hi,

Sorry for not forgetting about this one. You can alway send me a reminder pm if I have forgotten. I would like to know if you have run any AV spyware, malware scans lately and what the outcome of these are. If you need some information on any of these you can take a look at this thread.

Cheers!
