Hotmail-Firefox redux
I found a few other similar posts regarding this issue but haven't found a real answer to my problem.
Same as several other people, I have problems with my Hotmail account in Firefox. The main page with the in-box loads but when I try to go anywhere - open a message, open the drafts folder, open the contacts, basically anything anywhere - it freezes. The "loading" icon just goes around and around and around... And often it takes going to Task Manager to close the tab. A major pain as I have had the same Hotmail account for over a decade and really would like to keep it. My guess - only a guess - is that this is more a problem with Hotmail and Microsoft than it is with Firefox. Bill Gates and friends probably didn't get the "plays well with others" approbation on their grade-school report cards, if you know what I mean. But it's rather confusing. I've been able to access Hotmail successfully on other PCs with Firefox but not on my own. FYI, I have a new custom-built system with Windows XP as the OS. Service Pack 3 is installed. I have the most recent updates to Firefox. I have Adblock Plus installed and have tried getting to Hotmail both with it enabled and with it disabled - same deal. Regarding possible spyware or malware mentioned in other posts: I have Spybot Search and Destroy, Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, Advanced Systemcare 3.1.2 Free and Bazooka installed. I keep all of them updated and run regular scans. I have AVG Free anti-virus and also am sure to keep it updated. The Hotmail-Firefox problem remains... Some of the other posts also mention a possible firewall problem as the culprit. More details would help. I'm not entirely sure how to change settings or if indeed they should be changed on the Windows firewall. At this point, the only thing I use IE for is to access the Hotmail account. I'd deep-six it entirely if I could figure out a solution to this conundrum. Thanks in advance for any help you can offer in figuring this one out. |
