Firefox is freezing constantly and won't load some webpages

Hi,
I have been having the above problem with firefox for the last few months. I followed some instructions from this forum yesterday and opened a new profile which seemed to have solved the problems, but they returned a few hours later.

Everything seems to be okay when I run firefox in safe mode. I am running firefox 3.0.5

I think I would like to start again, but when I look under Documents and Settings I have the following folders:
Administrator
Administrator.HAY1
All Users
All Users.WINXP
Default User
Default User.WINXP
Denis
Denis.HAY1
If I open the folders, the Denis and Denis and Denis.HAY1 folders have Mozilla profiles in them.

Questions:
Is there a simple way to resolve this issue?
If not, how do I start again?
Do I need all those folders under Documents and Settings?
If I want to start all over again, can I delete the two Mozilla profiles?
What else do I need to do to make sure I am not importing the problems again?
How can I save my cookies as I have some setup that I need to keep, otherwise I will have to go to a lot of trouble to set them up again?

I hope this makes sense, and thank you for any help.
Denis

Re: Firefox is freezing constantly and won't load some webpages

Hi,

I would start by asking if you have run all of your scans. I am particularly wondering about any malware scans if you don't have a scanner for that I would recommend one at malwarebytes.org. There is a free version that you can d/l and use. If you find that you do have malware on your computer then there are some routes that we can take.

After that I would make sure that you are able to reach those sites from a browser on your computer. I would recommend that you try IE, if you still have it. That way we can rule out the sites.

Lets start there and then go from there, and Welcome to TSF!!!

Cheers!

Don't know if its simple but you can try removing Firefox and reinstalling. You may first want to Back up your information before removing.

It looks like you already tried a different profile, thats what these folders are.

After you get your current information backed up you can delete those

Re: Firefox is freezing constantly and won't load some webpages

Hi wmorri and geekgirl,
Thank you for your suggestions. I did a scan with malwarebytes and it found several infected objects. I have attached the results of the scan. I deleted them all and at the moment all seem to be working okay. I keep my virus checker up to date "TrendMicroPro" so I don't know why it has not stopped these or picked them up.

I am not sure if I should do anything else at the moment or to wait and see if the problem returns.

Thanks again

Re: Firefox is freezing constantly and won't load some webpages

If you think you might still be infected you can follow these instructions.
We do not accept any type of security scan logs in the Microsoft Support Forum please do not post them here.

Look over these http://www.techsupportforum.com/secu...oval-help.html
If you cannot complete any of the steps for whatever reason, just continue on with the next one until they are all completed, and post your logs in Virus/Trojan/Spyware Help; where an Analyst will assist you. However, it is very important to make mention of any of the steps that you were not able to complete.

After you’ve posted your logs, please be patient, as the Security Team Analysts are very busy.
