Question How Search thru HTML Help Files?

I have a software's help files that were saved in Program Files in html format. How can I search for a word in those files while I have it open with FF or IE? For example, I know how to search for a word in pdf & doc files, and how to use Google to search thru a site's files, but I can't figure out how to search thru saved html files on the hard drive. I hope there is a free easy way. :)

Re: How Search thru HTML Help Files?

Doesn't bring up the word like searching in a pdf or doc file. That is what I want. But Thanks for quick reply. :)

Re: How Search thru HTML Help Files?

If you open the HTML page and then press ctrl+F a search box should appear, then type in what you want to search for and hit enter. It should find the word your looking for and have the option to skip to the next word which you search.

Re: How Search thru HTML Help Files?

Ah, but I don't know which page to open to find the particular word I am looking for in the help file, and I don't want to open all the pages. I want it to do just like in a pdf file for example. If I want to find a help on how to rename a file, I type in the word rename and the pdf will bring up each instance of the word in that whole file. I don't have to open each of the pages of the pdf file and type in the word each time to find all instances of the word. But in the html help file, there are many many pages, and I don't want to have to open each one to find that word. Do you see what I mean? :)

Re: How Search thru HTML Help Files?

Wouldn't it be easier if you asked for help here rather than searching for several different pages of text to find your answer? I'm not exactly sure what it is you want to do...

Re: How Search thru HTML Help Files?

I don't think so because each time I use the Help files for that software, I would be looking for a different word in their help files.

May be I would have to learn how to connect all those html files into one long html file or doc file, then I could quickly find what I am looking for.

Hmmm, there must be an easier way, but maybe not.
