firefox high CPU usage and etc

I'm not sure what is wrong with my firefox but it keeps useing a large amount of cpu from 80 to 100% constantly, then crashing. I've noticed as well that it will not load videos that are on some websites. I recently reinstalled firefox in an effort to fix the problem, it seemed to work until the next day. Internet Explorer works just fine but I'd rather use firefox. I've run a bunch of virus scans and etc, removed all cookies, and reinstalled as I said before is there anything else that may fix the problem?

Re: firefox high CPU usage and etc

Are you using Firefox 2? I had that same problem until I switched to Firefox 3. FF3 takes foreeeeeever to load but has less memory leak than FF2.

That'd suggest some form of mal/spyware is present.
See if an Adaware scan brings up anything.
