I am using Firefox 3 on a Mac OS X operating system and everything runs smoothly apart from the fact that I sometimes get page diversion to adverts or alternative pages. This occures whenever I go on the website http://digg.com and also when I click on (an average of) 1 in 4 search results in Google. The Google site goes first to a "redirect site" then a couple of other URLs before taking me to a random alternative search bar with adverts. This means that when I click "back" it just reloads the page instead of taking me back to google (if I hold down on back i can select google again). Digg.com is totally screwed up, in that I cant get to any part of it, no matter what part of the site I try, it always gos to xpsecuritycenter.com (which I have found is a malicious program). It minimizes my firefox window and tries to get me to download it, I cancel and close the page, but even if I reload, I can't get on digg.com and some other websites.
I have an application for firefox called AdStop plus, which successfully gets rid of all advert banners on the web, and is extremely useful. I am not sure if this is the problem, because it only happens on specific websites. Any help would be much appreciated! Thanks |
