bookmarks have dissapeared!!!!
hi sorry for the exclamation marks at the start but i'm still in shock lol. i turned on firefox now and its just all gone :S i don't know why and i dont' know how really, all i know is that i tried to restore them with files from previous days but it says access is denied or something...... everything is gone... all of my RSS feeds - everything. how could this happen? should i just resort to using google bookmarks?

see if the following can help.
http://kb.mozillazine.org/Lost_bookmarks I would like to suggest downloading foxmarks addon. Besides syncing your bookmarks between computers, it makes great backup. Also febe addon will also backup your bookmarks.
