half of all websites dont load.

i have an issue were half of the websites i try to go to will not load the status bar simply displays "waiting for (insert page name here).com" and will stay that way forever. i know my internet can handle the sites because it plays streaming video almost instantly. i dont think it is firewall becuase it doesent block sites of (cough) adult nature (cough) or much less horrible malware. so does anyone have any ideas?

same issue with XPproSP2 and FF3.0/IE7
